Mars may be modelled as a uniform sphere of diameter 6.8 × 106 m and mean density 3.9 × 103 kg m−3. What is the gravitational field strength at its surface? (G = 6.67 × 10−11 N m² kg−2)

Because M = ρ(4/3)πR³, the R³ on top and R² below leave g = (4/3)πGρR — linear in R. That is why the diameter mistake exactly doubles the answer.
